Sweet oak meets Aglianico's machismo and dark fruit in this intense, concentrated example from the northerly Castel del Monte DOC. There's lots of concentration and latent complexity waiting on the palate, which shows liquorice, India ink, juniper and resin flavours alongside blackcurrant and dried blueberry and damson notes — but this needs air and time to show its best. Drinking Window 2027-2035.

The Bocca di Lupo is an intense ruby red with a nose that is ample and quite intense with fruit. The wine has pleasant balsamic sensations and sweet spices of nutmeg and licorice.
